Stop Saying "Mom Bod"

Stop Saying "Mom Bod"

I asked Olivia to share her thoughts about this session and WHY now:

“When Shannon posted about wanting to do an all black and white boudoir session, I immediately knew that’s what I wanted to do for my 30th birthday present to myself. Women hear so much about ‘getting their bodies back’ after having a baby. After having two babies in less than two years, I loathed the saying. This body was the same body that went through cancer, infertility, and two c-sections. This body simultaneously nursed one child, while growing another. This body was with me when I lost my best friend and brother at 19, and was with me on my wedding day and when I saw my boys’ faces for the first time. I knew Shannon the only person I wanted and trusted with this, and I’ll be forever grateful to her for these images.”

Thank you for taking a chance on this session Olivia. Thank you for believing that we could create magic together.

Featured on Mother Muse

I’ve been obsessed (yep, truly obsessed) with Mother Muse’s photographs and mission for quite some time. The articles that they post are so full of reality, truth, and rawness. It’s been a dream to have my work featured with them ever since I read their first post. When they reached out to me about using my photographs from Krysten and Andrew’s maternity session, to go along with their story, I jumped at the chance. I love supporting other women, especially mothers. This article is perfection and all about the importance of helping your partner after having a baby. I mean, who can’t get behind that?! Please give it a read and then go visit their website to read more incredible posts. Let’s continue to uplift moms through their struggles and triumphs.

Photographing Your Family Every Year in West Palm Beach

Photographing Your Family Every Year in West Palm Beach

This precious family just relocated and it got me thinking about how special it’s been to photograph them every year (before I moved to West Palm Beach, myself). We were able to create this incredible relationship that allowed their three girls to trust me and knowledge that I was going to get them the best heirlooms for their home. It was really neat to be able to email Autumn (mom) every year to set up a session. She knew that these girls were growing fast and wanted to make sure that she captured each one of their personalities as the years flew by.

Modern Tropical JW Marriott Wedding | Marco Island Wedding Photographer | Shannon Griffin Photography

This is definitely one I'm excited to share with you. This was one of those weddings where you can physically feel the love surrounding everyone in attendance. Marco Island is home to some of the most gorgeous sunsets you will ever see. The skies look like cotton candy as the sun goes down. Christina and John had all of their events at the JW Marriott, but they wanted to bring the outside in. Florida is so hot this time of year, and while they wanted their guests to be comfortable and in air conditioning, they didn't want it to feel like a ballroom. That's where hiring an incredible stylist and florist comes into play. Tom Trovato and Courtney worked together to create a tropical and lush landscape inside of a hotel ballroom. It was pure magic. It was exactly what the couple had been envisioning and beyond. Beyond that, my mid-century modern heart was so happy with the decor of the actual resort.
