Sometimes We Just Need Breathing Room to Create

Sometimes We Just Need Breathing Room to Create

I’ve been putting together a vision board for when I’m able to do another creative, personal expression through my art.

While my heart is photographing women and telling their stories, sometimes my soul needs to stretch and play so that I can reset and renew. This makes me better for the clients that I photograph.

Many creatives have gone into depression during this time because we haven’t been able to create like we usually do.

It’s our release. It’s our way out of darkness. It’s a way of telling other’s stories while telling our own.

Being a photographer is engrained in my being. To be able to document someone’s story that then becomes art in their home, it’s at times indescribable.

Can a name stigmatize an experience

Can a name stigmatize an experience

Can a name stigmatize an experience?

I get people who say, "Oh, I don't think I'm the type of person to do a boudoir session. It's just not me."

Then, I tell them it will be an experience they can make all their own. “You can wear your favorite dress. You can wear nothing at all. You can be in the ocean or on a mountain. You can be rolling around in a bed or the dirt.”

I say it over and over and over…THESE SESSIONS ARE MORE THAN JUST NUDE PHOTOS OF YOURSELF.

Delray Beach Boudoir Session

Delray Beach Boudoir Session

The women who stand before me are true works of art. The simplicity from this session just blew me away.

A is a florist who lives in a different state. She and I have been following each other on Instagram for years. We had talked here and there, but never met in person. She messaged me almost a year ago, letting me know she was going to be in my area and was finally ready to set up a boudoir session. She told me that she had been waiting because I was the one that HAD to photograph her (talk about an honor). We did the session in an AirBnB that she and her husband were staying in to attend a friend’s wedding. She made sure to find one that was neutral with some great natural light. The best light was in the living room, so I ended up moving the couch and some tables out of the way. Like I said in my previous post, I’ll move mountains to get my clients the best photographs.

Styled Boudoir Session with Moonstruck Florals

Styled Boudoir Session with Moonstruck Florals

When Caroline, of Moonstruck Florals, reached out to me about doing a styled boudoir session in her studio, it was a definite “YES” from me. I wanted Caroline to have full control of the aesthetic of this shoot. This was my first boudoir styled shoot and I wanted to capture what someone else created. It’s so incredible to work with other creatives and not interrupt their process. My voice was going to be in the photography aspect, I wanted Caroline’s voice to really shine in the rest of the shoot.

Destination Boudoir Photographer

*this post contains some nudity

It’s crazy to think that destination photography has gone beyond weddings, but it absolutely has. I like to let people know when I’m traveling for work or pleasure because more times than not, I book a few extra sessions. These are people that live in different parts of the world, but follow my work. It’s so neat to meet people, who have been supporting me through social media for the last few years. I also book destination sessions all on their own and will often times fly or drive to them.
