In a world where people just want the smallest, simplest piece of you, how do you show them that you need each other?
So much of owning a small business is meeting the people who will “get” what you do and want to be a part of it. If you’re doing it right, it’s not even a huge number of people, just enough that trust your vision and want it for themselves. But, when you have one minute to listen to their story and one minute to tell yours, how do you connect?
I’m so tired of the small talk, “I’m a life coach, oh, you’re a photographer? I need some new headshots.”
We know you do so much more than just coach people. Do you know that I do so much more than take a few photos of people?
How do we get there? How do we find meaning in these short conversations?
How do I hear the heartbeat of why you work with women who have survived trauma and are now thriving because of you? How do I explain to you that I worked deeply with a newly divorced mother who told me that the photographs I installed in her new house finally made it feel like home…after three years of living there?
How do we find our people out in the world? I’m really asking because I long for it. I miss it.
Let’s start here:
Hi, I’m Shannon. I want to work with people who long to be their own muse. It might be the first time someone is seeing themself without shame or judgement. I long for people who are possibly afraid to stand in front of me, raw and vulnerable, but trust that I’ll catch them as they free fall. I work with people who might have never had a professional photograph taken and now we’ve created a 40x60 metal print in a room where they will see it every day. I strive to be a silent partner in their discovery of coming home in their own body. I’m not just a photographer and they are not just a client. We are on the quest for meaningful art and we will profoundly display it.
Now, I want to hear about you…
