My goal is to merge the women I photograph with the fine art they would hang in their home.
Living in such a beautiful place like Palm Beach, most of my clients are art collectors. But, for some reason there is a disconnect for many of them. They are moved by a photograph of a nude stranger, in their home, but the thought of the woman in that photograph being them is uncomfortable.
Why?
Because vulnerability is uncomfortable and hard.
It might not be surprising that many who inquire with me don’t move forward because they aren’t ready to go that deep. They aren’t ready to face themselves head on and ask the hard questions. Sometimes we sit in silence, while planning their session, while they work through something.
The process is never rushed. It unfolds slowly and organically.
The process I take women through is to get to the other side of vulnerability and end in courage. It’s to have a woman display a large piece of art on her walls, of her, and to know, “I did that. I stood in my truth.”
I remember when I used to just hand over digitals and how it made me feel like I was not doing everything I could for my clients. I learned photography on film 24 years ago. We would have never given our clients negatives and told them to “figure it out”. Essentially that is what we are doing with digitals.
My art is not finished until the people I photograph have their photographs on their walls or in their hands.
I went from handing over digitals to measuring clients walls and curating custom art that we dream up together.
Let’s bridge the gap and collect art of ourselves.
