Christina and John live in Chicago, but wanted to have a destination beach wedding. Being that they don't live in Marco Island, they waited to do their engagement session the day before their wedding so that they could have it at their wedding venue and have me photograph it. Marco Island is home to some of the most gorgeous sunsets you will ever see. The skies look like cotton candy as the sun goes down. We wanted to incorporate the gorgeous resort, as well as the beach. We split the engagement session time, half inside and half on the beach. They are both so stylish and the inside of the JW Marriott lent itself well to their aesthetic.
I don’t normally encourage my couples to do their session inside of a hotel, but this resort was so beautifully curated. The furniture was modern and the light pouring in created this moody glow. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone with film and metering, and I’m so glad that I did. I wanted to show off the light coming through Christina’s jumpsuit, as well as the overall connection between the two of them. We finished the session on the beach, right around sunset. These are some of my favorite engagement photos I’ve ever taken. This is what can happen when you hire a photographer you trust. They gave me total freedom and trusted in the process.
